NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL

Pulse+, MKE.NYC, and more

PULSE PLUS

Pulse Plus started as a blank slate: no brand, no product, just an idea for a quarterly at-home wellness test combined with wearable data in a custom dashboard, with a three-month runway to get it to market. AGNT built the brand from the ground up, including market research, persona development, naming, and visual identity, then carried that foundation through content strategy, product design, website design, packaging, and go-to-market collateral.

The product itself required building a secure, AI-driven platform capable of aggregating data from 10+ wearable health devices and turning it into meaningful, personalized insights, without overwhelming users. That meant end-to-end encryption, secure API and OAuth integrations across device types, and full HIPAA compliance, paired with AI models for data aggregation and analytics. The solution was a card-based dashboard that let users prioritize what mattered most to them and dig into historical data with a single click, an approach designed to extend easily to new devices and use cases as the wearable landscape evolves.

AGNT hit every milestone, getting Pulse Plus to beta within the three-month window and to its initial goal of 100 participants, ready to scale. The project became a model for how fast a fully-formed brand and product, backed by genuinely new technical infrastructure, could move from concept to market when research, design, and engineering work in lockstep.

MKE.NYC

MKE.NYC was Northwestern Mutual’s first generative NFT project, built as an internal initiative to help employees understand tokenized ownership and demystify web3 technology. AGNT partnered with Venture Studio to anchor the concept in something familiar: a map of Milwaukee and New York City, drawn from artwork already on display in the client’s NYC headquarters, which became the foundation for a collection of 5,000 generative NFTs using layered visual attributes.

Because the learning curve around crypto wallets and NFTs is steep for most people, content strategy and usability testing were central to the work, designed to lower the barrier to entry so employees could focus on the experience itself rather than the technical setup. The project gave Northwestern Mutual a low-risk, internal way to build literacy and excitement around an emerging technology category before considering any external application.

FUR INSURE

This project set out to build the world’s first decentralized autonomous organization based pet insurance platform, combining blockchain, smart contracts, and a custom token economy with traditional insurance underwriting. The team developed an ERC-20 governance token, built smart contracts on Ethereum to automate policy issuance and claims, and layered in AI for risk assessment, automated claims processing, and 24/7 customer support.

The platform launched successfully and became a proof point for what decentralized infrastructure could do inside an established insurance company. The bigger learning outcome extended beyond the product itself: its success helped lead to the creation of Variable Space, a new department at Northwestern Mutual dedicated to exploring emerging technologies, embedding this kind of experimentation into the company’s long-term innovation strategy.
